Our Team

Craig A. Szabo, CPA: Craig has practiced public accounting since 1974 and has been President and owner of Szabo Accountancy Corp. since 1984. He began his career with a large national CPA firm where he worked for 10 years and rose to the position of Audit Manager. He then formed his own practice in 1984, where he services clients in many industries including medical, dental, restaurants, real estate, sports, and entertainment. Mr. Szabo graduated from Cal State University Northridge in 1974 with a B.S. in Business Administration - Accounting. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and California Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Island Breeze International, Inc., a casino which operates in East Asia. Craig has also been an active Real Estate Developer over the years and currently co-manages a portfolio of commercial properties. He enjoys golf, traveling, boating, reading and playing the drums in a band.

Staff Bios

Susan Patterson, Account Manager: Susan heads up the Business Management Department and has over 26 years of Business Management and Accounting experience. Susan has been with Szabo Accountancy since 2003. Previous to her years at Szabo, she spent most of her career running all aspects of a top fine art imports company. She spends her spare time enjoying her 3 dogs, gardening and enjoying sports with her 2 children.

Cathy De Luca, Account Manager/Office Manager: Cathy has been with the firm since 2003 and is a member of the Business Management Department as well as the Office Manager of the firm. She brings over 24 years of experience in Auditing, Bookkeeping, and Management while working for Ralph's Grocery Store (a subsidiary of The Kroger Co.). She also has over 2 years of additional experience as an Office Manager. In her spare time Cathy enjoys volunteering with the Special Olympics, cooking on the holidays and spending time with her family.

Justin Szabo, MBA, Business Account Manager: Justin is a member of the Business Management Department and joined Szabo Accountancy in 2005. Justin, (Craig Szabo’s son), brings over 4 years of related experience to the firm while working for SEI Investment Co. Justin graduated from Widener University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Sports Management. While attending Widener University he also earned his Masters Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Financial Planning. Justin achieved several academic accolades, most notably being inducted into Omicron Delta Epsilon, economic honor society. During his time at Widener Justin was a 4-year letter winner with the Men's Soccer team and a 2-year letter winner with the Men's Track & Field team. During his personal time Justin enjoys traveling, snowboarding, and participating in all sports.

Kent Belli, MBA: Kent has been with the firm since 2005 , has over 18 years of accounting experience, he has worked for such firms as Ernst & Young CPA’s, The Walt Disney Co, and most recently HBO/Cinemax (division of Time Warner Entertainment Company, L.P.). Kent earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting at the University of South Carolina where he also earned his MBA in Finance and Accounting. While attending University of South Carolina he earned several academic accolades.

Steven Reichik, EA, Senior Accountant: Steven has been with the firm since September 2008 and has over 29 years of accounting and tax experience including 7 years experience in bankruptcy accounting and tax. He had earned his B.S. in accounting from California State University, Northridge and is a lifetime member of the U.C.L.A. alumni association. While at U.C.L.A. he was a history major. In his spare time he enjoys motorcycle riding, photography, hiking and backpacking.

Lisa Jefferson, Assistant Account Manager: Lisa is Assistant Account Manager at Szabo Accountancy. She has been with Szabo Accountancy since 2009, and is excited about the opportunity to be in the accounting and business management world. Lisa comes from a 15-year corporate career that began in the record industry in 1988 as an assistant at A&M Records and ended in 2004 as VP of Press Artist Development at Elektra Entertainment. Lisa most recently ran her own pr company and prior to that had established a tea-party business which specialized in parties for girls. It is Lisa’s desire to bring all of the accumulated knowledge from her years of work and personal experiences to her new position at Szabo Accountancy and to continue to learn as much as possible while having a great time. She spends her spare time with her family, watching movies, walking and paying attention to politics.

Heidi Vandenberg, Assistant: Heidi is Craig Szabo’s Assistant and joined the team at Szabo Accountancy in 2010. She recently earned a Bachelor of the Arts Degree in English with an option in Creative Writing from California State University of Northridge. In her free time, you’d find Heidi hiking through the Southern Californian wilderness and exploring its many different faces. She also enjoys writing poetry, listening to all genres of music, and trying out numerous hobbies such as painting and playing guitar.

Sophia Venable, MA, CPC: Sophia Venable: Sophia is very excited to be offering a new service with Szabo Accountancy. She earned her Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1999, was CFO of a film music company for 10 years, and became a Certified Professional Coach in 2009. Finance and Relationship Coaching have turned out to be the most interesting and exciting work for her, combining all aspects of her life experience. She has two beautiful daughters, 10 and 6 years old. In her free time she is a scuba diver, football fan, and a competitive ballroom dancer.
